I have officially begun preparing for my half marathon this weekend (okay I started preparing for it last week, but that is not the point). If you don’t know me, I am slightly OCD and anal retentive… I do things like this:Yep. I am one of those.
Running is no different. I have my outfit picked out…and I took it for a “test drive” on Sunday.
(Shirt and skirt from RunningSkirts.com, socks from ProCompression and my loves, my Newton Distance U)
I am also a gel hoarder…(there are roughly 30 or so gels in the bottom drawer of my night stand)
and I am ready to hydrate, tape myself, and not chafe!I am currently hydrating with FRS and coffee.
Not together of course, because that would be gross.
(can you see my running goals to the right of my coffee mug? Yeah.. again… I am one of those)
In summary, I am pretty stoked to run this weekend at the SLO Half Marathon, I think I might have mentioned this before (here and here). Super stud Dean Karnazes, the Ultra Marathon man will be speaking at the expo, which is awesome. Contrary to Facebook posts over the last few days from the SLO Marathon, it will NOT be raining on race day (thanks a bunch to the Weather Channel for calming my nerves). Not that I am bragging… okay I am, but here is the Race Day forecast:
Sun Apr 7
- Chance of rain: 20% (not gonna happen!)
- Wind: NW at 25 mph
- (Wind doesn’t really sound awesome, but as long as there is NO rain, I am good.)
On other notes:
I allowed myself to sleep in this morning so I will be busting out my 3 mile run this evening. (Unfortunately it is only 3 miles because I am tapering, but I will take what I can get!)
I have an amazing dinner lined up. I know it is amazing, because I have had it for the last 2 days in a row. Thanks to my new favorite blogger, Stuft Mama! It’s chicken “fried” rice. You can check out her recipe here.
It’s really good and very healthy… and besides, I am carb loading this week. Yeah!
That’s my summary for the day. Hope your Wednesday is going well.
Awww…. thanks for the mention. Hope to see you this weekend, but I’ve got a little injury that may hold me back. I’m so bummed. I have that same skirt though and you’re going to ROCK it at the race! π

Good luck to you. Every day this week I emailed myself another item or two to add to my packing list, just so I didn’t forget them. π

I do the same thing! I remember the most random things at the most random times, so it totally helps me be prepared. π Glad to hear I am not alone.

I just finished reading Karnazes’s book about running 50 marathons in 50 days. He seems like a pretty good source for running advice! Good luck
