Hello!
I would say Happy Monday, but you know how I feel about Mondays
Hate ’em.
I know last week, on National Running Day, I said I was going to run..
I didn’t.
In my defense,
I didn’t lie on purpose,
I WAS going to run- even though I knew I shouldn’t.
It was freaking National Running Day.
Atleast that was what I told myself…
Until I talked myself out of it.
My shin was still hurting when I walked
and I knew that I would just make it worse if I tried.
So, I put on my big girl pants and stuck to my guns.
No running until I was able to go an entire day without pain.
That was the rule.
So, when Friday rolled around and my shin felt fantastic,
I almost had a heart attack.
My mind, as per usual…
started racing with the idea that I might actually be able to run the Santa Barbara Half Marathon in a few weeks.
I was so excited.
Saturday morning rolled around and my shin hurt the second I stepped out of bed.
My thought exactly.
But, being the moron that I am… I HAD to run.
1.5 weeks of running has made me feel insane.
I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeded to run.
You feel me right?
Of course you do.
Anyway, I justified the fact that I could run because my shin felt good the day before.
So…
I ran.
It was only two miles.
But it was the most glorious two miles I have felt in a while.
(And I looked fantastic too, by the way.)
But…. my shin hurt.
And I kept running.
I know, I know.
I am an idiot.
Even though I promised us both that I wouldn’t be an idiot.
So… my shin hurts again.
Not like it did two weeks ago, but it still hurts.
I’m officially off running atleast until this Saturday,
and I am starting to accept the fact that the Santa Barbara Half Marathon might turn into the Santa Barbara 5k.
Also known as, THE most expensive 5k on the planet.
And to top things off, I signed up for another race…
Because I have Race Fever.
Even though I can’t even freaking run.
I am an idiot.
Obviously.
RaceGrader posted a GREAT deal on the Shoreline Half Marathon
30% off using the code RACESHED30
$56.73 for a half marathon is not bad… not bad at all.
See?
I couldn’t pass that up.
The race is on Sunday, Jul 12, 2015
Which gives me a month to heal and get back to training,
My main goal is to qualify for the Half Fanatics Half Marathon Club
(3 Half Marathons in 90 days).
Can I do it??
Let’s hope so.
How was your weekend?
Are you a member of the Half Fanatics Half Marathon Club?
When is your next race?
Made me laugh…. Sounds so like me. Good luck with your training.

Glad I am NOT the only one. Thanks!

I think you’ll be fine. Are you icing those bad boys? What caused the pain in the first place? At any rate, you’re in good company – every runner has a bout with injuries, and more importantly, eventually know how to fix it for the long term (most of the time?).
Take care and good luck!

I am icing… like every few hours! I have never iced this much in my life! I don’t really know what caused the pain to begin with… I have had shin splints for a while, but thought they went away. I am definitely working on correcting this so it doesn’t happen again. Thanks for stopping by!

It’s soooo hard not to run when I have an injury. I can really relate to that! I hope you heal soon! I’ve only done one half marathon so far, but I’m going to look into Half Fanatics. Sounds like a fun goal to have!

Sorry to hear you are still having pain! Hopefully it heals quickly! Is it sad that I finally qualified for Half Fanatics this year but then balked at the registration price? i keep telling myself to get over it and register.
