Everyone!
How are you today?
I am good.
Today is another one of those knowledge dropping days.
Foam Rolling.
You probably have one in your house…
But the question is, do you use it?
The answer probably is no.
That changes today, people!
If you have ever seen a physical therapist or hung out at the gym, you have probably caught a glimpse of one of these cylindrical torture devices.
Foam rollers can be either your best friend, or worst enemy, depending on how you look at it.
I actually have three in my house right now.
See, I told you I was crazy.
Foam rollers help to loosen the fascia tissue that surrounds our muscles.
When the fascia is tight- movement becomes limited and can lead to injuries… which no one wants.
So, if you don’t currently foam roll… DO IT.

I must mention that foam rolling can be EXTREMELY painful.
The tighter you are, the more it’ll hurt.
The good news is that it does get better and the short-term pain is well worth the long-term benefits.
I roll out pretty much every day for about 10 minutes, usually after a run.
Below is a full body foam rolling YouTube video that I have found very helpful in learning the proper techniques.
Check it out!
Do you foam roll?
When is your next race?
But it hurts sooooo much!!!! I do it but not frequently enough or long enough. I need to be better,

I love my foam roller. Promote it, promote it, promote it. It made a huge difference when I trained for my half marathon back in October. We should all have a good relationship with our foam rollers. 😉

I got a foam roller when I got injured last year and have been using it ever since. Best addition to my running in years & (touch wood) I’ve been injury free since then. I use it after every run, after stretching & have just made it part of my routine. There’s greatness in that foam!

GOOD JOB!!!! I am so happy to hear that you are injury free and that your foam roller is helping you stay that way!

I don’t have a foam roller but I have The Stick. Is that the same/similar? Or completely different?

Yes, they do pretty much the same thing… break down the tight fascia in your muscles. I have always wanted to try the Stick. What do you think of it?

I am terrible about using my foam roller! I barely use it at all. I usually have good intentions and swear that I’m going to use it in the evenings, but it never happens.

JANE! You absolutely must foam roll. It is so important!! I force myself to stretch and foam roll after every run. I really helps with recovery.
