I think I can, I think I can…

Hello and Happy day to you!

As many of you know, I just (praise the Lord!) recovered from a minor hamstring injury that forced me to pull out of Rock n’ Roll San Diego.

Boo!

But! I am back running and haven’t had any problems with my hamstring since.

WOO WHOO!

I do, however, feel as though I have lost some fitness.

Or maybe it is in my head?

Who knows.

I am feeling a little off this week.

So I guess, I am just cha cha-ing?

Right?

Right.

I have a few races coming up that I am super stoked about.

Napa to Sonoma in 22 days…

and the SF Marathon in 37 days.

So for the time being, I am going to keep chugging along.

You can call me “The Little Engine That Could”.

I am going to focus on the fact that I am actually running…

 and that I am healed.

I am going to get out of my own damn head…

and just run.

I am going to stop thinking about how the run feels…

and just do it.

Because I CAN DO IT!

It might take time, but I will get back there.

Exactly.

Onward and upward.

Right?

Right.

Tell me something positive that has happened for you, or to you recently.

Let’s talk about positive things!

between being sick and out of town – I’m struggling to get my mileage back up, but I just take it one step at a time! Today I knew it would be (another) short run, but I wanted to get out there anyway, and I did it, and actually had a good pace – so I’ll take that Win! 🙂

I had upper jaw dental surgery in Dec, and wasn’t able to run for just over 3 months – I was afraid of what it would be like getting back into running, thinking I would have lost muscle and cardio. I’m happy to report that 11 weeks after I started back into running, I raced in a 10k – was only 2 min off the 10k race I did last September! For me, definitely as much a mental thing as it is physical. Good for you for getting right back on the running horse (so to speak)!
