Struggling with Doubt

Hello and Happy Day to you!

I hope things are well in your neck of the woods.

It has been pretty darn hot in San Luis Obispo, so I have been running late in the evening.

I really should just get up in the morning and run, but you know how I feel about mornings.

Seriously.

I am not a morning person.

If there is such a thing as an afternoon person- then that’s me.

He he he!

Anyway, I am getting ready to head out for some serious speedwork…

Think six 2 minutes intervals at 5k pace and two 5 minute intervals at 10k pace.

Obviously, if my coach would have asked me to do both of these sets 2 months ago I would have squealed with delight!

But now…

Okay, not really.

But as I mentioned last week, I have lost a little bit of mojo and don’t feel nearly as strong or fast as I used to.

Such is life.

Sometimes we are in great shape, feel awesome and can run fast.

Other times, we feel like crap and run slower than we are used to.

Seriously.

I am learning that the most important thing stay positive and take it one day at a time.

Annnndddddddd….

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

I embraced this slogan in January of this year and I think it is time to revisit it.

It’s time to stop slacking.

It’s time to work hard.

It’s time to be sore.

It’s time to get sweaty.

It’s time to run hard.

It’s time to get tired.

It’s time to do it anyway.

Who wants to join me on this quest to get outside of our comfort zones?

I’m working on my mojo too. My last race was a 10 miler about three weeks ago and I don’t have to start training for my next race until the end of July. Sooo…there’s been some procrastinating over here. But my goal is to get out 5x/week and I’m going to do it. Count me in for the challenge!

This could not have come at a better time. I was running good a few weeks ago, ran a half on Father’s day that went horribly and now it’s like my legs and mental toughness all decided revolt. Definitely hoping for more positive things soon or my Dumbo Double Dare goals are out the window. 😐

Due to all my excuses of being sick and several trips, I probably won’t hit my mileage goal for the month, and I am seriously struggling to run my normal distance, to run my normal pace, to just run some mornings. But, I am pushing forward, despite how uncomfortable it is! 😀
