I think I can, I think I can…

Hello and Happy day to you!

As many of you know, I just (praise the Lord!) recovered from a minor hamstring injury that forced me to pull out of Rock n’ Roll San Diego.

Boo!

But! I am back running and haven’t had any problems with my hamstring since.

WOO WHOO!

I do, however, feel as though I have lost some fitness.

Or maybe it is in my head?

Who knows.

I am feeling a little off this week. Continue reading

Things That (As A Runner) I Can’t Stand!

Hello and Happy day to you!

bathroom

As a runner, there are certain things that really piss me off!

I am sure most people don’t understand, but maybe you (being a fellow runner) will agree with me…

1. When some moron sprints ahead and then stops in front of me in the middle of a race.

Pull your head out of your ass, man! I mean come on! It’s called peripheral vision, use it and check out your surroundings before you come to a complete freakin’ stop. I understand that you are tired, but really? Continue reading

Hello and happy day to you!

index

On Saturday, May 7, 2016 I was the 2:30 pacer for the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon.

This was my first assignment for Beast Pacing and what a day it was.

But, I am skipping ahead a little.

Let’s start at the beginning.

Day 3: Lunch and Dinner

Because “lunch” was Christmas Eve dinner with the family, I brought my own chicken, brown rice and brocolli. I ended up being guilted into, eating some BBQ chicken. It was delicious. Truth be told that my Aunt made my favorite, broccoli cheese casserole… So I had to have some of that. But, I did eat my protein bars for dessert. I would give myself a “b+” for my efforts yesterday.

Dinner consisted of carne asada and broccoli again. It was awesome.

I am posting this on day 4 at 7:45 in the morning. I am waiting for my parents to get up and turn the alarm off so I can go for a run. Gotta get this day going people!

Anyway, see you in about an hour or two.

Sorry to pictures of yesterday’s food. I know, I know. Fail.

Day 3: Workout and Breakfast

I woke up this morning at 7:30, drank an MRM sugar free pre-workout and hit the ground running.

Today’s work out consisted of arms, abs and a 30 minute HIIT treadmill workout. It was a definite butt kicker. I HATE V ups and of course “abs” consisted of v ups. I just kept remaining myself that it was only 15 (3 sets). Anyway, after weights I hopped on the treadmill and did roughly 3 miles. I started out running at about 6 mph for 2 minutes, bumped it up to 8 mph for 1.5 minutes, then walked for 30
seconds. I did this 4 times then threw in a hill for good measure. What a workout!

I then finished up with my protein coffee shake (coffee, protein, a little milk… Bam, you have yourself an amazing shake with a little caffeine kick) and my usual banana.

A few hours later it was time for what I like to call “2nd breakfast”. Which is a repeat of yesterday’s breakfast, but I added a little peanut butter to the oatmeal (to keep me full until we eat Christmas dinner) and threw on some avocado to my egg whites. Once again, my 2nd breakfast is a winner.

Here is a pic of my beautiful whole grain oatmeal with pb:

As I am posting this, I am in the car with my parents driving to my Aunt’s house to celebrate Christmas with my family. I brought by own dinner and a few of Jamie Eason’s chocolate protein bats for dessert.

No excuses to not eat clean. The holidays are NOT about stuffing yourself with crap food… It’s about spending time with family and celebrating the birth of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. I think we should all stop looking it as an excuse to pig out. 🙂 Just my thoughts.

Day 2: Lunch & Dinner

I try to be prepared when I visit my folks and I bring my own food. They are extremely unhealthy your typical American eater. So, it’s definitely a challenge when I visit them, when I am trying to eat healthy… Let alone eat clean. I packed all of my food into Tupperware containers and put them in an ice chest. No excuses to not eat clean while on vacation!

Now, battling the elements of Christmas dinner is a MAJOR ordeal. After searching aimlessly for something I could eat… I settled on salad. Yippee. Thank goodness I had some of Jamie Easons chocolate protein bars with me. Those were a life saver.

Once I got home (back to my parents) I was starving. So I had this

Organization is my thing. 🙂

I am going to the gym first thing in the morning because I’m heading out to go visit my family for Christmas. As always, I’m looking forward to kicking my own butt!

Day 2 here I come!

12 Days of Clean Eating

With 12 days off from work and school, people have asked me… “What the heck are you going to do with all of that time off?!?” I have made a resolution to eat completely clean and exercise as much as I can during my extended stay-cation. With New Years around the corner, it’s never too early to get a head start on making 2013 my year!

I have been trying to eat clean for the last few months and have been working out consistently for the last year but I am still finding it hard to lose weight. I am hoping that this blog will help hold me accountable and I inspire me to keep going. I will try to post every day, share my results and take pictures of the clean food that I am eating.

Lets do this.
