For those of us who are fortunate enough to live in San Luis Obispo, this is definitely not news, but according to USA Today: San Luis Obispo, CA is America’s Happiest City! It is also home to one of the greatest Marathons ever, the SLO Marathon! I am running in this Half Marathon in 11 days and am so excited.
Last week I was running through the absolutely gorgeous trail behind Cal Poly, (which just happens to be down the street from my house… SCORE!) and I caught some of SLO’s beauty in its full effect. I thought I would attempt to make you jealous share my sights with you….
Check out the babies! I almost fell over when I saw those suckers prancing around and playing with each other. The view isn’t too shabby either.
It looks kinda overcast and the camera doesn’t give the sunrise nearly enough credit… but it sure was a beautiful morning. It made me so thankful to live in such a beautiful (albeit freakin’ expensive) town. Here is another picture of my buddies (I wave at them as I run by) and a shot of Bishop’s Peak (a killer mountain to hike).
This was definitely a beautiful morning and made running so much more enjoyable! Are there any beautiful areas that you live in? I would love for you to share!
Don’t believe me? Check out the picture I took before my run this evening… I look pretty darn happy!
My wife and I drove the Pacific Coast Highway in 2003, and San Luis Obispo was one of our favorite stops. We stayed at the Apple Orchard, toured the missions, visited cafes. Wonderful city, wonderful people. Glad you posted this, you’ve motivated me to dig out old photos, perhaps I’ll post them on my travel blog. Thanks!

Hi Jim! SLO is such a wonderful, beautiful place to live and I am so happy to hear that you have fond memories of visiting here. You should consider signing up for the SLO marathon! It’s next weekend and we hold it every year in April. A race would be a great excuse to get out here! 🙂
